More than 1500 hunters present at the meeting on the theme "Wild boar hunting: what future in Umbria?", Held in San Nicolò di Celle, Deruta (PG) organized by the boar team coordination.
Over 1500 hunters, last night, responded to the invitation of the coordination of wild boar teams of Umbria, and took part in the meeting on the theme "Hunted wild boar: what future in Umbria?", Held at the Egizia Dancing, in San Nicolò di Celle, Deruta. Present, coordinated by the secretary Brozzi, the regional councilor Cecchini, the president of the third Buconi regional commission, the representatives of the ATC, the agricultural world and hunting associations.
The president Marcello Spigarelli reiterated the nature of the coordination, which is not a committee and is recognized in all hunting associations. The wild boarists offer collaboration to the institutions and their representatives, in exchange for respect and willingness to manage the wild boar species and its hunting, according to criteria of hunting ethics and responsibility. The president also offered food for thought on the effectiveness of the current measures to prevent damage to crops, the times, methods and spaces that are affected, the delays of the Provinces in implementing the regional resolution with which it gave the green light, in summer, for the killing of over 4500 wild boars in the three Umbrian ATCs, and more.
The protagonist, of course, is the infamous letter “H” of the hunting calendar, that is to say the rule that obliges hunted wild boar hunters, and only those, not to carry out any other type of hunting for the entire hunting day. "It introduces hunting by species," Spigarelli said. “It is unacceptable that some hunting associations pass with the silence, even if not all”.
The hunting associations have tried to clarify their position on the letter "H" of the calendar, with mixed results. The Anuu has proposed to remove the constraint of exclusivity during the hunt on Thursday, when it is more difficult to find the minimum number of participants in the wild boar hunt. La Libera Caccia has clarified that the letter "H" is not the result of requests from hunting associations, preferring not to comment further until it is known who suggested to the Region to insert it. Even the Arcicaccia has proposed to modify the regional regulation of wild boar hunting, in the direction of "new forms of hunting that are emerging for those who do not identify with the teams", thus airing the hypothesis of introducing, even in Umbria, the danger of the Cacciarella.
Federcaccia Umbra, after recalling the importance of wild boar hunting for the entire Italian hunting world, and defining the wild boar as a "resource" and never a "problem", reiterated that the only two forms of admissible sampling are the hunt and the individual, because they are the only two capable of not breaking up the teams and guaranteeing safety, management of the species and protection of other forms of hunting. Federcaccia agrees with the coordination on hunting times (31st October-XNUMXst December), on the moratorium on the number of teams, on the redistribution of sectors. Regarding the letter "H", reiterating its opposition to the law, Fidc confirmed the need to regulate individual hunting as well, giving the same dignity and the same constraints to both forms of sampling.
Also important is the position taken by the agricultural world, which with its representatives of the category spoke of "collaboration" and responsibility as the only way to achieve appreciable results.
The president of the third commission, Massimo Buconi, invited a reflection on the harmful effects for the management of the hunt that the letter “H” will bring. There was no lack of controversy with the Provinces, in particular with that of Perugia, which adopted the regional resolution for summer killing only at the end of August, proposing 2 and 26 September as unique dates for killing over 2500 animals. “We have been doing extraordinary killing for over 20 years, it is clear that this is not the right way. Serious withdrawal plans are needed ”.
Finally, the intervention of the commissioner Fernanda Cecchini, who spoke of the economic crisis and the need to manage resources in a rational way, without going to the point, was disappointing. The only opening offered by his speech, the possibility of finding an alternative solution to the letter "H" to better manage the wild boar. Interesting, at the end of the speech, was the announcement of an imminent revision of the Umbrian ATCs, which will be grouped into a single entity with 4-6 operating units in the various territories, according to the criterion of relevance. Perhaps an opportunity to save resources by managing the territory better.
