Hunting prohibited in Calasetta and Sant'Antioco, in the province of Cagliari. This is the content of the ordinances issued by the mayors of the two municipalities of Cagliari, Mario Corongiu for Sant'Antioco and Antonio Vigo for Calasetta, who have decided to prohibit the respective municipal territories from the hunting activity.
The ban will come into force from tomorrow, Sunday 4 October, and will last for the entire hunting season, therefore the approximately 300 local hunters will have to find new hunting areas.
The two twin ordinances have as their basic motivations, safety and security. It all stems from the suspension of hunting in the areas under concession to the “Self-managed Isola di Sant'Antioco” association, determined by the Regional Department for the Defense of the Environment on 17 September.
Considering this, in the absence of the possibility for local hunters to practice hunting in the areas in question, there would be only the areas of free hunting that are at the same time densely populated; in fact, in the municipal ordinances it can be read that "Considering the small portion useful for hunting on the territory that has remained free from constraints, where the self-managed hunters could pour, this would create serious problems for safety".
