The Puglia Region renounces the pre-opening of hunting by making specific changes to the 2012-2013 Hunting Calendar.
The Councilor of the Province of Brindisi with responsibility for Agriculture, Crafts, Fishing and Wildlife Management, Antonio Gioiello, has made it known that the Apulian Regional Council has made some changes to the 2012-2013 Hunting Calendar with which the days of hunting are effectively canceled. pre-opening of the Hunting Season scheduled for the next 9 and 12 September.
The decision of the Giunta adheres to the requests of the environmentalists and the Government to postpone the start of the Hunting Season starting with the cancellation of the pre-opening days in order to reduce the considerable stress to the populations of wildlife caused by the particular drought conditions that have occurred in the last months.
On the issue, the commissioner Gioiello explained, “The measure is therefore aimed precisely at reducing the risk of serious damage to wild populations that are now having particularly vulnerable conditions due to the persistent period of drought. These atmospheric adversities risk having, in the short and medium term, negative effects on the development dynamics of the population of many species.
