Hunting in Sardinia. The environmentalists of the League for the abolition of hunting, the WWF and the non-profit legal intervention group have appealed to the TAR against the Sardinian regional hunting calendar 2015-2016 promulgated by council decree on 5 August 2015 and published in Buras number 37 of 13 August 2015.
The environmental associations argue that the decree "was formulated in the absence of a binding environmental impact assessment procedure (EIA), necessary for all activities or projects that may modify the ecological and naturalistic characteristics of the areas belonging to the Natura 2000 network", reads in a note.
With the appeal the cancellation of the hunting calendar is requested, after precautionary suspension. "According to the official data of the Ministry of the Environment, the Protection of the Territory and the Sea - underlined the environmentalists - the sites of community importance (Sic) existing in the territory of Sardinia and identified with a procedural path that fully involved the Region , the State and the EU are 87, for a total area of 269.333 hectares (17,7% of the island's territory), while the special protection areas (SPAs) are 31, for a total area of 147.644 hectares (6,13 , 97.094% of the territory), there are also six areas coinciding between Sic and Zps, for a total area of 4,03 hectares (124% of the territory). In total, the 2000 protected terrestrial natural areas belonging to the Natura 452.366 network (Sic, Zps, Sic and coinciding Zps) cover 18,77 hectares (XNUMX% of Sardinia), largely open to hunting. Yet, no environmental impact assessment procedure has been carried out with regard to hunting ”.
On 17 August, Amici della Terra, the League for the Abolition of Hunting and the Legal Intervention Group had already filed an appeal with the European Commission.
