Hunting: Siena, The Tuscan PD expresses its opposition to fox hunting in the den authorized by the Province of Siena from 1 April 2013.
As an animal welfare and protection group of the Tuscan Democratic Party, we want to clarify our opposition to the decision of the Province of Siena, Wildlife Resources Office, which authorized fox hunting in the den from 1 April 2013 to 31 July 2013. "The decision of the Province is only to satisfy a by now residual band of hunters and lend a hand to the arms industry ”.
We strongly reiterate the will, as members of the Democratic Party, for ethical choices on the part of the representatives of our party who have institutional positions. The decision of the Province is only to satisfy a by now residual band of hunters and to lend a hand to the arms industry. To justify the decision of this extermination only in function of the damage that the foxes can cause by killing the hares and pheasants is the most illogical one can say. The hares and pheasants are thrown by hunters only to be killed.
If the foxes have multiplied it is also because they find food in landfills or thrown prey not very awake, so everything goes back to human hands. Hunters not only hunt hares and pheasants, but in this way also foxes, whose fur and meat are then used for other purposes. Recall that the hunt in the den is even more opprobrium because the packs of dogs chase the animal to the den, then killing the young that have recently been born.
We strongly reiterate that even if regulations and laws still allow this massacre, our conscience must tell us that they are not fair. The racial laws had also been voted on, but they were not right for this and they were eliminated, so it must also happen for these issues.
The democratic party must promote a new culture that brings respect for the environment and for all creatures, human and non-human, into our society. As the new Pope Francis rightly says respect and love for all creation, only in this way will there be peace for future generations.
