Hunting: Sovizzo (VI), ENPA zoophile guards stops pheasants and partridges from restocking because they are not regulated, immediate controversy by Maria Cristina Caretta, president of the Venetian Hunters Association "We await the outcome of the investigations, we will evaluate whether to sue".
It is controversy over the seizure of 2500 between pheasants and partridge, which took place in recent days in Sovizzo and on the statements of the spokesman of the Venetian protectionist coordination, Renzo Rizzi. Maria Cristina Caretta, president of the hunters' association could decide to take him to court. The blitz of the Enpa zoophile guards started on Saturday, in front of the cemetery when the animals were unloaded and delivered to hunters. The agents immediately checked if the animals were ringed, the verification on several specimens gave negative results, the sale and release of these animals was outlawed. The guards immediately blocked the unloading of the animals, and requested the immediate return of the birds already loaded in the cars of the hunters, who according to what emerged, after a first moment of amazement, collaborated without placing particular resistance, someone even helped to explain to those present what was happening, and what the law was violated. Upon arrival at the polstrada, the owners of the three trucks from Minerbe (Verona) loaded with over three thousand animals, all without a ring, were fined over one hundred and twenty thousand euros, in addition to the kidnapping.
Renzo Rizzi spokesman for CPV stated: "Every year in the Vicenza area alone over one hundred and fifty thousand animals are killed in this way, with a total cost that well exceeds one billion old lire, of which a good portion comes from public funding or in any case under the control of the Public Body, and it is in this direction that I firmly ask for the appropriate checks to be made ".
"Waiting for the competent Authorities - explains Maria Cristina Caretta of ACV Confavi - to verify if the voluntary guards of some animal welfare associations have exceeded the limits provided for by the regulations in force, making a real abuse of power in seizing a few thousand birds destined for "Launches of game ready to hunt" (activity expressly provided for by law), we feel the duty to intervene to categorically deny some statements quoted in quotation marks by some media attributed to Mr. Rizzi, spokesman for the Venetian protectionist coordination.
Continuing the Caretta affirms “Among his affirmations, Mr. Rizzi allegedly stated that "Every year in the Vicenza area alone over 150.000 animals are killed in this way, with a total expenditure that well exceeds one billion of the old lire, of which a good portion comes from public funding ...". As President of the Associazione Cacciatori Veneti-CONFAVI I believe it is right to deny these false statements as the launches of game carried out by the Territorial Hunting Area or by the hunting associations are financed only and exclusively with a part of the money paid by the hunters either as a membership fee to the ATC or as a membership fee to the hunting association they belong to. False is therefore the assertion that these launches would be carried out with money "of which a good chunk comes from public funding".
“We understand that many animal rights activists are used to using falsehoods in order to try to impose their distorted view of things but we categorically refuse to passively suffer insults and gratuitous denigration. In reality, not only does the hunting activity burden the pockets of citizens but from the huge concession fees paid annually by hunters, both state and regional, (the province of Vicenza income from the reversal of the regional concession fees paid by hunters more than one million euros per year), the public body allocates a small part of it to wildlife management, using the vast majority to ensure public utility services, such as schools, roads, salaries of the staff of the province, etc ... Since the exponents of the jagged animal rights archipelago have asked the judiciary to shed light on the episode of the seizure of pheasants and partridges which took place on 12 December last, as ACV-CONFAVI ask the investigators to verify, in addition to the hypotheses of abuse of power, if not there are grounds for criminal action against those who have made public statements that seem to have nothing ac he see with the truth.
