In Val d'Aosta in spring it is time for exams to qualify for hunting. This year the epidemic was in danger of compromising the expectations of dozens of aspiring hunters, but new technologies have come to the rescue of Diana's new followers. We have heard the testimony of one of the organizers of the course, Michele Monteleone Regional President of Arci Caccia Val d'Aosta: "For the month of March, the training course for obtaining the qualification for hunting and the one for Capocaccia in the Wild boar hunting.
The outbreak of the contagion and the containment measures made it impossible to carry out the training course, mandatory to access the final exam, in the usual way. For this, through the CERF, the Regional Faunal Education Center, a body formed by the Hunting Associations, from Regional Hunting Committee, and from the Zooprophylactic Institute and the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta, organized a course of over 50 hours, consisting of lessons of 2 hours at a time, three times a week, which began on March 16 and ended on May 7 with the theoretical exam. Through the Gsuite platform, we have activated a course for 42 students, who have attended the lessons with an average attendance of 37/42. The ease of following the course, even on a mobile phone, has allowed, for the first time, these very high attendance rates.
After the oral exam, which was attended by all members, 42 aspiring hunters have been admitted to the practical exam and are awaiting the relative test, which will take place as soon as the shooting range reopens. The hunters liked this new way of teaching, as it freed the members from logistical difficulties which involves moving to a mountainous area such as that of the Aosta Valley. Furthermore, the presence of a dense network of libraries throughout the region has allowed even those without a computer to watch the lessons live or in streaming. The teaching material was also positively evaluated and also the teachers were appreciated, especially after the CERF renewed its collaborators and everyone had to measure themselves with the technological tool, putting in place new teaching methodologies and teaching materials specially designed and built.
