Yesterday afternoon the Province of Cosenza presented the new provincial hunting fauna plan, amid general satisfaction and good wishes.
We read in the note of the Province on the conference held yesterday afternoon 30 March 2012 in Cosenza: “It was presented this afternoon at the Auditorium“ A. Guarasci ”of piazza XV Marzo in Cosenza, the new Wildlife Hunting Plan drawn up by the Province of Cosenza.
The meeting was introduced by the President of the institution, Hon. Mario Oliverio whose speech was followed by the institutional greetings of the president of the Sila National Park Sonia Ferrari and Domenico Pappaterra, president of the Pollino National Park.
Engineer Giacomo Martirano, one of the professionals in charge of drafting the Plan, illustrated the salient points of the Plan, while the provincial councilor for Wildlife, Hunting and Fishing, Biagio Diana, concluded the work. The regional councilor for agriculture, Michele Trematerra, was absent because he was involved in the work of the regional council.
“This Plan - said, among other things, President Oliverio at the opening of the conference - is the result of the sensitivity and attention that the Province of Cosenza has always had towards the territory and environmental problems.
It is one of the first, among other things, to be drawn up in Calabria, and contains the essential elements (establishment of new areas for protection, discipline of hunting rules, rules for determining the damage caused by fauna to agricultural crops, natural repopulation of hunting areas, planning of releases with native fauna) for the management and conservation of the faunal and environmental heritage of our territory, with the aim of following a modern guideline, involving all subjects, public and private, operating in this delicate sector.
In drafting the Plan, the Province of Cosenza has tried to go beyond compliance with these minimum mandatory contents required by law, with the aim of creating a structural product that contains both the political guidelines and all the other specialist addresses provided for by regional regulations and useful for a modern wildlife-hunting management, based on the involvement and mediation between all the subjects, public and private, involved in this difficult sector.
The goal is to have a fundamental tool available to protect and manage, in accordance with the law, wildlife and the organization of the territory for the purposes of the planned discipline of hunting ”. “To achieve it - concluded Oliverio - the Province made use of the collaboration of a qualified working group”.
Applause and satisfaction expressed by the two presidents of the Parks, Sonia Ferrari and Mimmo Pappaterra. Technical and accompanied by several slides the report by Eng. Martirano, particularly followed in detail by the numerous representatives of voluntary associations and not present in the “Guarasci” auditorium in Cosenza.
"It is a fundamental tool - the provincial councilor, Biagio Diana, visibly satisfied - said at the end of the meeting - for the protection and management of wildlife and for the defense and protection of the habitat in which it lives and plays. One of the major innovations envisaged by the Plan is to promote the establishment of a provincial wildlife observatory in order to favor the study of the physiology of the wild fauna present in the area and to verify its relations with the environment. Furthermore, the Observatory will make use of the aid of an ornithological station, a ringing station and various observation points for the avifauna "."
