The Associations that are part of the Unitary Control Room of the Hunting World (Italian Federation of Hunting, National Free Hunting Association, Enalcaccia, Arcicaccia, AnuuMigratoristi, Italcaccia, Ente Produttori Game and the National Hunting and Nature Committee) have read the letter of the MILD dated 20/07/2021 Prot. 79230, in which some new considerations on hunting for turtledove species, which finally clarify in an official way that the withdrawal is possible with certain prescriptions. The letter also opens up to the comparison between Regions and MITE and this too, albeit late, it is something we consider positive.
The communications from the Commission are attached to the letter, which elaborate on the requirements requested with respect to what was established in the last workshops on adaptive levy. That said, we hereby allow ourselves to indicate what in our opinion are the ways in which to fulfill the requests of the Commission and to allow the maintenance of the hunting tradition of the species in the central-eastern area, therefore in all the Italian Regions with the exception of Piedmont and Liguria:
La Liguria region must exclude the turtle dove from the 2021-22 calendar. This actually does not
it represents a great sacrifice because pre-opening does not take place in this region.
Il Piemonte it has already excluded it and Valle d'Aosta does not include it among the huntable species;
The other Italian Regions must halve the seasonal game bag (from 20 to 10) for
soccer player;
The other Italian regions must reduce the pre-opening days by half (for example allowing only half a day of hunting until 13,00 compared to
full days granted in previous years);
The other Italian Regions must know the average of the withdrawals declared in the period
2013-2018 and set a ceiling of foldable garments equal to half of this average.
The other Italian Regions must provide for reporting on the taking of turtle doves
specific and fast, which allows the Regions to verify within 10 days from the start of the hunt for the species what the sampling has been achieved.
For this purpose, a card can be provided for the turtle dove that the hunter is obliged to download from the regional site to hunt the species, and oblige the hunter to send the completed form to the Region itself during the week 6-10 September. In practice, it is a question of managing the turtle dove as is already done with the species in derogation (e.g. transfer), accelerating the reporting in the first ten days of September, in order to assess whether the roof is reached before the general opening of the September 19th.
