A few days ago the State Forestry Corps intercepted and stopped a car that came from Serbia and was transporting eleven hunting dogs near Sant'Adrea of Gorizia. At the helm was a Serbian breeder who had let the animals into some cages and that he did not have any kind of health document with him, essential for importing dogs. This means that the animals had not received the rabies vaccine, which is mandatory for travel within the territory of the European Union.
The health risk encountered by the agents was very high and for this reason the veterinary staff was called in. The inspection then continued and all hunting dogs were impounded for the violation of the import law. The animals have been entrusted to a kennel in Gorizia and soon there will be health checks.
The farmer's vehicle was instead subjected to administrative detention, without forgetting the fine of 8 thousand euros for the foreigner. Among other things, this vehicle could not transport any type of animal: the breeder also said he had to reach Brescia for one dog show.
