Public assembly
It took place on Monday 3 June 2024 in the assembly room of the FIDC-UCT municipal section of Certaldo a public meeting open to all hunters in which, in addition to many enthusiasts, all three candidates for mayor of the city of Boccaccio also participated. After the greetings of the municipal president - Claudio Marchi, the FIDC-UCT Provincial President - Simone Tofani - intervened and asked the political world and the administrators present for respect and consideration for the "honest hunting citizens", recalling that every 5 years, all hunters, must be subjected to psycho-physical tests and checks of their criminal record.
Environmental management
Tofani also suggested that the hunting world could play an active role in the design and redevelopment of public spaces and "urban greenery" by making its knowledge available in environmental management and biodiversity conservation. Tofani concludes that hunters are the first "sentinels of the environment" and should be perceived as such by local administrations, also underlining the many environmental restoration and control operations of antagonistic species in which they are engaged daily.
Wildlife plan and hunting calendar
Subsequently, the FIDC-UCT Regional Vice President - Alfonso Papa, after bringing the greetings of the President Marco Salvadori, illustrated the latest news regarding the most current hunting issues such as the new regional hunting fauna plan and the 2024/2025 regional hunting calendar, specifying also on Federcaccia's request aimed at maintaining the collection, albeit limited, of the wild dove. In addition to representing the problems arising from African Swine Fever (ASF) - Pope - explained in detail the commitment that the Tuscan Hunting Federation - Tuscan Hunters Union has put in place in recent months to resolve the problems relating to the use of decoy birds , promoting the distribution of the rings.
A useful comparison
All three mayoral candidates, appreciating the initiative, shared the important role that the hunting world and hunters play within society, both in wildlife management and in environmental restoration. The administrators and candidates present also proved ready to discuss and collaborate in synergy with the hunting world on concrete projects aimed at environmental and wildlife education and the conservation of biodiversity, for the benefit of the entire community.
