The satisfaction of the League
“The mountains and hills of Umbria become free to be experienced, obviously respecting the environment and current regulations. The uncertainties that have led to unjust sanctions against hunters, mushroom seekers and motocross enthusiasts will finally disappear." The councilor of the League expressed satisfaction with the vote during the session of the Regional Council, which gave the green light to the latest budget of this legislature. Manuela Puletti, signatory of the approved amendment which - she underlines - "will change the rules of experiencing nature".
The objective of the amendment
“Through this amendment – explains Puletti – it will be possible to travel with any motor vehicle on paths, mule tracks and firebreak avenues where prohibition signs have not already been placed. This act, strongly desired by the League and supported by the entire centre-right, therefore puts an end to legislation which until now lent itself to different interpretations and which severely limited the potential of our mountains and hills".
The inspiration from Veneto and Lombardy
“With this innovation – continues the representative of the League – Umbria places itself on the same line as particularly developed regions, such as Lombardy and Veneto, which have already made the transit of motor vehicles possible. In doing so, the League, which has always been close to the hunting world, confirms its vision of an active policy, a policy of action and opportunities. The forest and our hills – observes Puletti – represent a great resource for Umbria and it is the duty of politics to facilitate important and identifying worlds of Umbrian history such as that of hunters, mushroom seekers and motorcyclists. Doing so with clear and certain rules – he concludes – also represents the best protection of nature. The 'yes' policy has once again won over the 'no' policy, which in the name of instrumental environmentalism actually creates distance between nature and man" (source: Umbria Region).
