The technicians ofVeneto Regional Agency and the agents of the Local Police of the Metropolitan City of Venice have completed the census at the lighthouse of the roe deer and the resulting data attracted good attention. The operation, which takes place annually, has made it possible to ascertain how the greater density of these ungulates is located in Caorle, to be precise in Valle Vecchia. The monitoring in question registered as many as 158 specimens, a number that the operators themselves defined as “considerable”.
It is over one head every two hectares, a quantity that has no correspondence in any other area of our country and, according to what is known so far, at a European level. The valley is chosen by roe deer as the ideal habitat, a trend that dates back to the early 2000s, a fact that has grown from time to time.
Furthermore, according to the latest censuses, the constant increase in the population has been understood between 8 and 9 percentage points. It is enough to simply remember how in 2017 the ungulates surveyed were 134, which then rose to 143 just a year ago and to almost 160 heads as emerged not many days ago. If nothing else there is little consolation of these animals' low impact on agricultural sector local.
