Great solidarity
A concrete gesture of solidarity and commitment for the territory was made by the municipal sections of Federcaccia Alta Val Grande and Cantoira, in the province of Turin. The two Sections have in fact promoted and carried out the reconstruction of the bridge over the Rio Vassola in the municipality of Chialamberto. The original stone bridge from the Romanesque age had fallen in the flood of 2000, subsequently a wooden bridge was rebuilt which, however, was beginning to show the strain of twenty years of snowy winters and equally hot summers. The bridge is an important communication route for mountain visitors, in particular for farmers, hikers and nature lovers. Its instability had created considerable inconvenience, making access to the surrounding mountain pastures difficult.
A reference point
“We decided to intervene because we believe that it is important to take care of our territory and its infrastructure,” declared Livio Genotti, promoter and hunter of the Alta Val Grande municipal section. “The bridge over the Rio Vassola is a point of reference for many of us and its reconstruction was a primary need for the mountain people”. The reconstruction works were carried out in collaboration with the Mayor Gabriele Castellini of the municipality of Chialamberto and with some local companies. The new bridge, made of wood and steel, is more robust and resistant than the previous one and will guarantee greater safety for users.
A positive element for the territory
“We are very satisfied with the result obtained”, stated Alberto Valerio and Gigi Aicardi, presidents of the Federcaccia municipal sections. “This initiative demonstrates that hunting associations can be a positive element for the area, not only for the protection of wildlife, but also for supporting local communities”. The inauguration of the new bridge over the Rio Vassola was held on Sunday 26 May 2024 in the presence of the local authorities, representatives of Federcaccia, numerous citizens with the presence of Don Claudio Pavesio who blessed both the bridge and its plaque. The ceremony was an opportunity to celebrate the collaboration between the different realities of the territory and to reiterate the community importance for the care and enhancement of the environment (source: Federcaccia).
