Paladins of the Territory
Now in its 12th edition, a day of environmental regeneration took place on Sunday 9 March, organised by the managers of the municipal section of Federcaccia di Giffone, Felice Valente and Michele Pasqualone. The event, promoted by Federcaccia Calabria and Fondazione UNA, is part of the “Operazione Paladini del Territorio” initiatives, which see hunters and citizens committed to social and environmental protection. Like every year, several mountain areas have been reclaimed, which unfortunately have often returned to being the scene of incivility and degradation. The participation of committed hunters is increasingly numerous, who together with the wild boar teams “Ariganello” and “Petrulli”, on this Sunday in March, have returned the territories of Giffone and the neighboring ones of Galatro, Cinquefrondi and Mammola to cleanliness and decorum.
Not just hunters
The operations carried out allowed the recovery of several quintals of abandoned bulky materials, which were then referred to the competent authorities for disposal. Numerous locations were reclaimed: Sabato, Tremola, Cubasina, Contura, Limena, Bucolio, Vitarito, Ariganello and Giambarella. Alongside the hunters, the civil protection association "San Bartolomeo", the association "Amici del Presepe" and the cultural association "San Bartolomeo".
Huge appreciation
Present, to testify the enormous appreciation for the operations carried out by the volunteers, the mayors of Giffone, Galatro, San Giorgio and Rosarno, representing the respective municipalities that sponsored the initiative.
