The topics on the table
It was a very cordial and constructive meeting yesterday, Sunday 9th February, in Verona, during the course of EOS Show, between the President of the Italian Shooting Union Costantino Vespasiano and the President of CONARMI, Pierangelo Pedersoli, a meeting also attended by Carlo Giuseppe Bianchini (Councillor of the CNDA – National Association of the Archibugieri) and Marco Locatelli (President of GTA Galliate). The main topic on the table was the development of muzzle-loading shooting and a broader and more articulated presence of this discipline within the Italian Shooting Union.
Many enthusiasts
“It is well known that I have expressed my desire in the numerous, recent meetings with our Sections in every part of Italy – explained President Vespasiano – to give greater breadth and visibility to muzzle-loading which, like other shooting specialties, gathers a large number of enthusiasts and draws strength from the tradition and experience of large Italian companies specialized in the construction of these beautiful historic weapons”. President Vespasiano guaranteed his maximum commitment to the resumption of a collaborative dialogue that, overcoming the misunderstandings of the past, determines a well-defined role for the bodies that regulate muzzle-loading shooting and their adequate representation within the Union.
A common will
For his part, President Pedersoli wanted to underline "the excellent results and organizational successes that the Italian muzzle-loading shooting continues to collect, the last being the World Championships last summer in Valeggio sul Mincio, but it is very clear that being a more structural part of the UITS is a legitimate aspiration that we must all work towards together in the interest of those who love this discipline. If something has not worked well, up to now, it should be considered a problem of the past. The handshake with President Vespasiano seals the common will to undertake a new path". During the meeting, numerous issues were addressed and the importance of collaborating continuously with institutional interlocutors, in particular the Military Engineers, to ensure that the muzzle-loading shooting activity can gain wider spaces in our shooting ranges, removing any residual concerns regarding safety (source: UITS).
