The soldiers of the CITES Carabinieri Nucleus of Naples and of the Anti-Poaching and Animal Crimes (SOARDA) Operational Section, in collaboration with the WWF and LIPU Voluntary Zoophile Special Security Guards, carried out a control campaign aimed at repressing poaching.
The operation, which lasted several days, ended with the referral to the competent public prosecutors of 11 people and the seizure of 9 rifles, 100 cartridges, 6 acoustic warnings, 1 bird net, 2 batteries and 2 culled specimens belonging to the species. called Golden Plover.
During the operations, the CITES military searched the home of a man with specific precedents and there were found and seized 49 specimens of Goldfinches, 2 specimens of Siskin and 2 turtles belonging to the Testudo hermanni species, a species protected by the International Convention (CITES ) and by Community Regulation, as it is considered at risk of extinction. The man was reported.
This Caccia Passione journalistic editorial staff has always condemned and sensitized the issue of the fight against poaching in order to enhance the true spirit of the hunting activity, as hunters deserve the right respect as they are skilled and attentive connoisseurs of environmental and faunal mechanisms, as well as flywheel of rural economies. It is nice to remember that hunting and its sector moves 1,5 of the national GDP in Italy.
Therefore, activities aimed at combating poaching, or theft against the state, which have nothing to do with the world of hunting and its practitioners are welcome.
Finally, we want to thank the Lipu and WWF associations for the right and important contribution they make with their volunteers, in order to report to the Police Bodies present in the area, any activities by poachers with a license or not, certainly not similar to the hunters who practice hunting in compliance with current regulations.
