After the hares, the pheasants
On Saturday, September 6, Arci Caccia Firenze sent this letter to the President of ATC 4. In fact, worrying reports have been arriving from several quarters regarding the release of pheasants into the ATC. As with last year's hare releases, there are concerns about health problems with game purchased from the Area: "Dear President, we are hereby reporting a particularly serious situation that has emerged following the latest release of pheasants into the territory of ATC 4 FI Nord, as reported by several hunting clubs and numerous hunters."
Health risks
According to reports, several pheasants were already dead upon delivery, while others were found dead in the days immediately following. Just before the opening of the hunting season and during the dog training period, no pheasants were detected in the area, a situation that raises serious concerns. What is most alarming is the possible cause of death, which could be due to infectious diseases. In this case, the situation would be extremely serious, considering that each shipment must be accompanied by a veterinary medical certificate attesting to the health of the animals.
Formal requests
After the problems encountered last year with the supply of hares, we are once again faced with a critical situation that severely penalizes hunters, who continue to pay membership fees without ensuring the presence of the released wildlife. In light of the above, we formally request:
- To know whether the verification procedures have been activated through the competent Zooprophylactic Institute, in order to establish with certainty the causes of the pheasants' death
- If the presence of an illness is ascertained, not to proceed with payment for the supply and to initiate the appropriate compensation requests for the damage suffered.
- To identify timely solutions to compensate for the absence of pheasants in the area, ensuring the restoration of the minimum conditions for carrying out hunting activities
