Last week, the Senate of the Republic approved the amendments to the legislation onuse of lead in ammunition already passed through the scrutiny of the Chamber of Deputies for some time.
Tougher sanctions
The text is not yet available in the Official Journal, but it seems that there will be three new features: a tightening of the sanction for the use of ammunition containing lead shot in wet areas, the exclusion from the ban on transport by car on urban and extra-urban roads falling within wet areas and, above all, the obligation to precisely identify, map and list the areas in which the use and transport of ammunition containing lead is prohibited.
The situation of hunters
The identification of certain boundaries for the areas in which the ban will be enforced is what we have asked for from the beginning – declared President Maffei – it is necessary to put hunters in a position to respect the law and not incur sanctions due, perhaps, to a simple lack of knowledge of the territory.
