With the new binoculars with Geovid 8 × 56 HD-B and 8 × 56 HD-R rangefinder, Leica Camera AG, Wetzlar, has once again raised the performance bar of its hit Geovid series.
These new top-of-the-range models boast extraordinary brightness thanks to their 56mm objective lens diameter and 90% light transmission. The prisms with Perger-Porro patent offer a total elimination of internal reflections and maximum contrast, as well as an exceptional three-dimensionality of the image, completely different from that found in any other binoculars. The Geovid 56 models are incredibly compact and barely exceed the size of the same binoculars with 42mm lenses. The new models combine the innovative ABC ballistics function® with the proven reliability of Leica telemetry that has made its distance measurement tools the most popular in the world.
“We have developed the new Leica Geovid 8 × 56 HD-B and 8 × 56 HD-R models with hunters, for hunters”.
Explains Marcus Zeidler, Head of Product Management at Leica Sport Optics. 'Our aim has always been to produce binoculars that could boast the maximum optical brightness combined with a precise instrument for measuring distance, offering our most demanding customers an instrument of the highest level. Despite the uncompromising optical technology, these two models are particularly compact, offering an optimized ergonomic design for maximum viewing comfort combined with an impeccable finish. '
Il Leica Geovid 8 × 56 is available in HD-B and HD-R models, both capable of measuring linear distances up to 1825 meters in 3 tenths of a second; have the ballistic function EHR - distance corrected with the angle of the site. The algorithm developed by Leica takes into account not only the linear distance, but also takes into account temperature and atmospheric pressure. As a result, the Geovid HD-B and HD-R binoculars offer unbeatable precision and maximum versatility for all hunting needs.
The HD-B version boasts the award-winning ABC ballistics system® (Advanced Ballistic Compensation). Thanks to the integration of an SD memory card, users can upload their ballistic data to the Geovid. The high-precision ballistics program allows for an accurate determination of the point-of-impact correction. The hunter can choose between three types of ballistic measurement, obtaining the results in the format that best suits his needs. It is possible to have the correct distance with the site angle (EHR), the elevation in centimeters and the number of clicks to be given to the turret. In all calculation options, the parameters of temperature, atmospheric pressure and site angle are considered. The data is displayed on the integrated LED display, which automatically adjusts to the external light conditions.
The lightweight die-cast magnesium body is enclosed in an impact-absorbing rubberized casing that protects the binoculars from accidental impacts. The weight distribution is designed to give a feeling of lightness on the hand and the ergonomic shape contributes to an exceptional grip and makes it possible to use the binoculars for long periods without fatigue.
Il Leica AquaDura treatment® on the external lenses makes sure that dirt and water slide off in a very easy way, improving the vision characteristics especially in the rain. The dirt-repellent treatment ensures optimum performance at all times, even in adverse weather conditions and in environments with a very high degree of humidity. An additional advantage of this special treatment is that the lenses can be cleaned more easily and quickly.
Il Leica Geovid 8 × 56 HD-B has a retail price of € 3.295 and the Leica Geovid 8 × 56 HD-R € 2.885 and are available at authorized dealers Leica Sport Optics since September 2015.
