The alleged exploitation of hunting
The initiative "Wild and good" organized today by offshoots of the hunting world and by gunsmiths, it has one great merit: that of finally clarifying the true objectives of shotguns and their political and institutional sponsors. They are not at all interested in protecting biodiversity or protected species; they are only interested in killing wild animals to market their meat and do business on their skin." This was declared by the National Animal Protection Agency which once again denounces the very serious exploitation of the hunting world which for months has been relaunching an alleged and absolutely non-existent "wildlife alert" only to be given the green light for its extermination plans.
The accusations against Vaccari
«What amazes us is not so much the attempt by hunters' and gunsmiths' associations to profit from wildlife, an attempt that we have been reporting in Brussels for some time now, but rather the evident "contradictions" of political exponents such as Stefano Vaccari, who in broad daylight opposes the bills for wild hunting, see the Bruzzone proposal, only to then enthusiastically join the initiatives promoted by these very circles. It would be extremely interesting – continues Enpa – to know what the official line of the Democratic Party is on such a delicate and important matter as the protection of animals and the environment. Always assuming that the PD has a line on these topics."
Possibility of hunting
But beyond the more purely political, ethical and moral aspects, the so-called game supply chain calls into question health factors and raises obvious public order issues. Creating a game supply chain in fact means dramatically expanding hunting times and possibilities (which, it is worth remembering, is a concession from the State and not a right), with the consequence of increasing the number of armed men who go into hiding around our countryside and our woods, and therefore to exponentially increase the victims of double shots. «It is truly singular that while on the one hand the population is being terrorized by avian flu or swine fever, even deploying the army to exterminate wild boars, on the other hand it is clearly open to the buying and selling of the relevant meat. One of two things: either the alarms about wildlife are instrumental and unfounded - concludes the Enpa - or someone doesn't pay too much attention to the health regulations on food" (source: ENPA).
