To the Management Committee of the District Bergamo Prealps a reprimand has arrived signed by theUtr Bergamo for overcoming the wild boar sampling plan authorized in hunted collective hunting. The document describes the clear situation to those who have moved in recent months in the hunting practice to the animal that is doing so much damage in the Bergamo and Lombardy lands in general: in the only alpine hunting area in which the form of the hunt is open in the province of Bergamo the collection plan for 95 wild boars has been exceeded, for a total of 895 animals killed out of the 800 authorized.
"The note of the Utr Bergamo-, is informed that the animals taken improperly, that is, beyond the authorized collection plan, will be considered in the definition of the collection plan in collective hunting of the hunting season 2020-2021 and any authorization for collective hunting is declined in the current month of January ". Due to a difficult November from a meteorological point of view, the 12 teams of the CA had not been able to complete the plan, then making up for it in the last hunting days of December, which is why the additional days requests from Federcaccia and Enalcaccia would no longer be necessary. “It seems that politics and those who have to think about hunting management work on two different levels - explains Giovanni Morlotti, Vice President of Federcaccia Bergamo and Head of the Wild Boar Commission of Ca Prealpi Bergamasche-.
It is an inconceivable position, it means that we do not want to face the problem: we have exceeded the number and we are penalized, we will also ask for a meeting with the agricultural world for a position that did not exist. It is a mockery, it is not the right way to deal with an emergency that is there for all to see: now we wonder what will be done by those in charge to protect the territory from this problem. There is also chaos control: we have more than 200 hunters ready to help the provincial police as per regional law, it is only to put that into practice, but no one takes the situation in hand from an operational point of view.
There is a need for coordination and to understand why control is carried out in some provinces and not in others. We will hear the agricultural associations, we want to understand how they think. Like Federcaccia, if we get involved we will give our maximum availability. There is a census problem: a boar cannot be treated like a deer, it is much more difficult to calculate its density, the expansion area is evolving. We are available as Federcaccia, we hope that politics enforces the rules. We would have accepted a blame if we had not completed the withdrawal plan, certainly not for not having passed it ”.
