Il Wolf Apennine Center of the National Park of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, as part of the LIFE MIRCO LUPO project intends to start a decision-making process shared with local authorities, technicians in the sector and more generally all those who represent interest groups. The Advisory Committee must approve a "shared" plan for the "management of the wolf" in general and for the problem of wolf-dog hybridization in particular.
“To set up the advisory committee - explains Willy Reggioni, manager of the WAC and of the project LIFE MIRCO LUPO - we have already held a first meeting in Sassalbo on 18 December last year which was attended by about 30 people. During this first meeting we “listened” to the requests of the interest groups present and we agreed on a path that foresees a second moment of discussion to be carried out in the next month of March. On that occasion we intend to give the first answers to the questions that have been posed to us and to start sharing a draft of the action plan. What seems important to us is to widen the participation in the advisory committee for this reason the National Park has arranged an expression of interest to which we expect a great adhesion ”.
The objective of the advisory committee foreseen by the project LIFE MIRCO LUPO is to create a forum for discussion at the local level to discuss and elaborate a concrete action plan aimed at identifying the means and tools, shared between the various interest groups, for the management of dog / wolf hybrids, taking into consideration the conditions local socio-economic.
Considering that the phenomenon of hybridization is strongly interconnected with that of canine strays, it is necessary that all the competent actors (Regions, Municipalities, Regional Parks associated with the WAC of the National Park, ASL) and the representatives of the different interest groups (hunters, breeders, environmentalists and animal rights activists) who are involved in the management of this phenomenon. The committee will have an advisory role and will be able to share the contents of the educational campaign. The members will be presented with the activities envisaged by the project and with them will be agreed, within the appropriate measures, the methods of carrying out the same, in full respect of the various interests.
The expression of interest in participating in the committee's work is available on the National Park website and shortly on the project website www.lifemircolupo.it. The application form, correctly completed in all its parts, must be delivered by 12.00 on 22 February 2016 according to the following methods: delivered by hand to the Protocol Office of this Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park Authority with Registered office in via Comunale 23 Sassalbo di Fivizzano (MS), or sent by fax to 0585/948060, or sent by email to [email protected]
