The prefect ofUpper Savoy, French department that is part of the region Auvergne-Rhône-Alps, has decided to introduce a series of extraordinary restrictions on hunting in the territory after a dramatic accident. This is the first time ever for the whole of France. Restrictions will be imposed from hunting season 2016-2017, while the disputed fact dates back to the end of 2015. What specifically happened?
A man died after being shot in the head. The local prefecture is doubly limiting hunting in the Alpine department, since there were already "Red areas" and others that will soon be banned. The hunting reserves cover about 16% of the entire territory of Haute-Savoie and the Prefecture itself has declared its intention to establish a better cohabitation between hunters and other people who use green spaces.
According to André Mugnier, president of the Departmental Federation of Hunting, the 8 thousand hunters from Haute-Savoie they feel deprived of their personal freedom, but they will accept the limitations with a great sense of responsibility. It was also thought of training courses for better reporting of hunters in the reserves. The restrictions will take effect from the start from the next 11 September and until January 15, 2017.
