Important changes
Almost two years have passed since the Lombardy Regional Council modified the regional law regarding hunting activities, where some changes were introduced regarding the use and management of the hunting heritage. live calls of hunters. These changes subsequently require the regional council to define the executive methods of application in order to make them operational, but unfortunately to date there is no trace of these provisions, stuck in bureaucracy with consequent confusion and uncertainty on the part of citizen-hunters. Given the situation created, the hunting associations Anuu Migratoristi, Federcaccia, Acl, Arcicaccia, Enalcaccia, Italcaccia and Cpa have decided to write to the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, expressing their disappointment for a solution that is not in sight.
A difficult situation
A serious situation, which common sense would consider an emergency to be remedied as soon as possible and which instead is continually put on the back burner, not considering it on a par with other regional emergencies, attributing to hunters the qualification of minority citizens. Hunting with live decoys is a tradition deeply rooted in the Lombardy territory, which has resulted in a culture of environmental protection, protecting and enhancing its territory around and near fixed posts, so-called huts, which by now, especially in the woods, are the only well-managed places that "welcome" passers-by on a daily basis. Furthermore, these places, thanks to the management of hunters, become environmental cornerstones, where the many varieties of flora and consequently also of fauna, find the space and the fundamental and necessary conditions for their development and survival. Where usually there is a well-cleaned meadow or wood, managed with professionalism and passion, perhaps characterized by the presence of many varieties of plants and shrubs, and where it is not difficult to encounter some animals: you find a hut or a bird snare.
A value too important
When a fire unfortunately breaks out, it rarely travels through a shed, but it circumnavigates it because the surrounding land is well managed and clean. It is unthinkable that a region like Lombardy wants to neglect or forget all this, with the consequent loss of such an important value, which can be summarized in many aspects. From traditions to environmental ones, social ones, gastronomic ones such as spit-roasting and cultural ones, which have centuries-old roots, like many festivals that take place in the villages and which annually see hundreds of thousands of people certify with their presence the importance of these traditions. In the last Lombard administrative round, expectations were high, and after a hopeful start, for a true territorial policy, enhancing the realities that constitute biodiversity, we saw and noted how these melted at sunrise, deliberately ignoring, by those who institutionally had the task, the answers that the territory was asking for.
Hesitations to break
We do not want to draw hasty conclusions, given the precedents, but what is certain is that there are all the conditions for us to finally truly undertake a path that reverses the trend of recent years, in order to have far-sighted solutions to territorial needs. The time has really come for Lombard politics to break any hesitation so that it can finally reclaim its role as a protagonist that is due to it, from the President, to the council and all the regional councilors, protecting and enhancing everything that represents Lombardy. So finally, if the political world has the foresight to develop that common thread that links the Lombard territory to local traditions and cultures, drawing a real picture of the positive factors that determine the protection of the environment, it will be possible to judge the true and real value of hunting activity, which is often ignored and consequently not appreciated.
