Barbara Mazzali, councilor of the Brothers of Italy in Lombardy region, expressed itself on the latest administrative rulings concerning this territory: “The TAR once again gave reason to animal welfare associations against the Lombardy Region, which seeks to legislate for the good of the territory but is continually stopped. And who loses is the territory: the farmers, breeders and citizens who care about the right harmony of the fauna. It was resolved “for the cancellation of executive decree 25 September 2019 n. 13517 of the Lombardy Region, together with the 2019-23 Five-Year Plan of control of the fox in the Lodi area".
Once again in the Region we try to contain the very serious situation of the wild and once again they do not let us do it. The document says: “considered, in particular, that the control plan, through the planned abatement of a number of heads of the animal species covered by the plan itself, can only be carried out by the subjects listed in article 19 L. no. 157/1992, and not also by "expressly authorized operators, after a preparation course in wildlife management". In practice this means that the knockdowns will remain at stake. At this point the only solution is to change at the national level the article 19 157 and to bring the question to the State-Regions conference as soon as possible.
We cannot allow to a group of animal rights activists to destroy the territory and this will happen, because the wild ones are out of control. If the number of foxes increases excessively, the biodiversity of the native fauna is endangered, since the animals preyed on (especially hares and pheasants) will suffer a sharp collapse. This perhaps does not interest animal rights activists or perhaps they reason on the fact that the cutest animal must be protected! We must continue this battle for the good of the territory. Today is Lodi with the foxes, but let's not forget the pigeon problem in Brescia, Mantua and Cremona and the problems of otters and starlings ”.
