Gianni Fava, Councilor for Agriculture of the Lombardy Region, has decided to respond to some criticisms leveled against the fox culling plan. The request of the regional councilor Clare Cremonesi received a prompt reply: Fava has in fact clarified how a fuss is raising on an issue that is under control and which is also authorized by ISPRA.
These controversies, therefore, have been defined as spurious and out of place, so much so that the executive decree dates back to last 23 March, two months ago. Cremonesi referred to a plan without quantitative limits, but according to the commissioner these words would demonstrate his lack of information. Fox conservative control actions must follow a very precise approach and able to reconcile containment itself with predatory pressure, avoiding negative impacts on other species. Fava recalled the entire process followed in this case.
The documents were sent to ISPRA to request their opinion, which came with some prescriptions. The Brescia Regional Territorial Office then approved the plan, including the same requirements in the decree. The commissioner also specified how there is no intention to favor the "hunter lobby", which are however the best allies of agriculture in territorial management.
