La Lombardy region, on the proposal of the Councilor for Agriculture, Food and Green Systems Fabio Rolfi, approved a 360 thousand euro tender for the construction of centers of game processing and rest stops and for the renovation and modernization of existing ones. There are currently around 30 processing centers in the region, as well as several rest stops, i.e. structures where the carcasses of the wild game shot pending transfer to a game processing center.
They can apply for participation - added the commissioner - Provinces, Metropolitan City, Municipalities in single or aggregate form and Mountain Communities. The financial endowment amounts to a total of 360.000 euros and is configured as a non-repayable contribution for the reimbursement of expenses incurred up to a maximum of 100% of the total cost of the project, for interventions carried out in the year 2021.
"In recent years - said the commissioner Rolfi - wild ungulates, especially wild boar, deer and roe deer, are expanding both territorially and numerically in all the Alpine and Apennine areas of Lombardy and in numerous areas of the plains intensely cultivated and densely inhabited. This is causing damage to both crops and humans, as documented by numerous road accidents. We have promoted a new regional law to increase culls, but it is also necessary to have facilities to process the meat. For this we need adequate centers, necessary for veterinary visits ".
