After more than 3 years of stop, now the hunters will be able to return to help the provincial guards in the actions of control of wild boar in Lombardy. Article n ° 20 of the legislative revision law approved yesterday in the Regional Council introduces for the Provincial Police the obligation and no longer the sole right to make use of specifically trained and authorized volunteer operators in the execution of the culling plans of the most invasive species. "Drastic measures are needed to deal with an ever-increasing emergency that is causing considerable damage to farmers and in some cases even constitutes a threat to the safety and security of people - underlines the President of the Regional Council Alessandro Fermi.
Prevention is always better than cure and costs much less: the amount of costs for damage caused by wild boars is constantly increasing and falls on the pockets of municipalities and citizens, without these having any responsibility ”. Within the legislative revision law, an article was also approved that authorizes the stipulation of specific collaboration agreements to optimize the management and functioning of the territorial hunting areas, sharing services and personnel and thus facilitating the operations of containment and killing of wild boars.
“This is a strong decision of the Region, which has decided to make the provincial police force break the delay - explains the President of Federcaccia Lombardia Lorenzo Bertacchi. Although it has been clarified by the Constitutional Court the full legitimacy of the appeal to personnel specially trained with regional examination by the Provincial Police in extra-venatory containment interventions, in many provinces the operators were not involved, even in the face of too few organic to intervene effectively. The control is necessary where it is not possible to practice wild boar hunting, already authorized all year round ”.
