The official denial has arrived: the 46 year old from Lumezzane which violated the restrictions and, by burning wood cleaning residues, accidentally caused a fire on Mount Ladino HE WAS NOT A HUNTER. The Carabinieri Forestali, on whose press release the Giornale di Brescia had based the title of the news, rectified by specifying that the perpetrator of the violation he did not hold a hunting license nor is he the owner of the land where, moreover, there is an old disused stakeout. Frankly the measure is full.
The press release from the Police forces gave rise to the criminalization of an entire category for a fact that, moreover, has nothing to do with hunting, and unfortunately there is an attitude of "Hunter hunt" which should never be suspected in terms of the Authority's expression. If the official denial does partially justice (the corrections unfortunately never have the communicative effectiveness of the first version of the news), on the other hand we are left with the bitter feeling that it is the Carabinieri Forestali of Brescia who immediately want to find "a hunter" even in an episode of negligent fire, only to ascertain that the subject did not have a hunting license; we should be amazed if they gave it for sure on the basis of their preconception, but we would be amazed even if the CF, before breaking the news, they felt obliged to verify that the offender was a hunter, to underline it in the statement relating to the news.
What good is it? Note that anyone who violates a scrub burning ordinance is a hunter, a cyclist or a farmer? On the other hand, if we can understand that a newspaper takes the statements from the Carabinieri Forestali as correct, we can equally stigmatize the decision to want to immediately emphasize the fact that the perpetrator was "a hunter", with the effect of returning a negative image of the category. However, when the practice of burning the residues of cleaning up the uncultivated is widespread practice in the rural area: only regional and municipal ordinances which regulate the times and conditions should be observed. AND do not forget that among the volunteers who intervened to tame the flames there were hunters. We hope that in the future greater attention and respect will be paid both by the Police and by the press, to which we ask for greater awareness of the - peaceful - power of the "printed paper" to blame an entire category (The Regional Presidents of the AAVV LOMBARDE).
