The positioning
Also this year, thanks to the sensitivity of the Macerata 2 Territorial Hunting Area and the active collaboration of ACMA Marche (Association of Migratory Aquatic Hunters), a sector of Federcaccia, some artificial lakes in the municipalities of Civitanova Marche, Montelupone, Morrovalle and Potenza Picena, artificial nests for the nesting of mallards.
Chance of survival
These nests offer a number of advantages: they reduce the risk of predation by opportunistic species, such as hooded crow, magpie, fox and rats, thus increasing the chances of chicks surviving. They also provide a ready-to-use micro habitat for nesting.
Volunteer game wardens
The nests will be monitored by the volunteer game wardens of the Provincial Hunting Federation of Macerata to collect useful data for the management and conservation of the species, such as the hatching rate and the survival of the chicks.
