The letter sent by the regional councilor of Veneto, Sergio Berlato, to the governor Luca Zaia, to the other councilors, to the regional councilors and to the presidents of the Executive and of the Council had as its object the harassment of "mail bombing" by animal rights activists and environmentalists. Berlato recalled "the annoying mail bombing initiatives by a small number of phantom animal-environmentalists". Emails are literally clogging up boxes of the Veneto regional politicians and the goal of these people is to influence the choices to be made.
It has been ascertained that each animalist is able to equip himself with multiple email accounts with which to multiply requests, in order to make it seem that the subjects who send the emails are many. A similar attempt at conditioning would have taken place on the occasion of the vote of the Bill number 182 (fines for those who disturb the hunters).
Berlato does not want to create a counter-initiative, that is to "flood" the e-mail boxes of animal rights activists, as it would be counterproductive. The councilor wanted to remind colleagues that no emails will be sent from people belonging to the categories he represents (the reference to hunters is evident), then they will take their decisions in complete autonomy and without external conditioning.
