Wolf management and more
“I share with the President Kompatscher the need to urgently intervene at the local level to deal with the problems caused by the presence of large carnivores, especially the wolf, but Europe today is not the only field useful for winning a game that must also be played at a national level.
The commitment in Europe
The League in Europe has already fought trying to downgrade the wolf protection regime included in the annexes of the Habitats Directive and in the Bern Convention, a difficult match in the most red-green European parliament in history. Recently the European Commission, heeled by the constant requests of countries burdened by problems of coexistence with wolves and bears, has hinted that it will not hinder the choices of the member states if they can provide radical solutions.
National Management Plan
Now that the ball has passed to the States, the League, at the urging of the Minister for Regional Affairs Calderoli, is already working on the resumption of work for the drafting of a national plan for the management of the wolf which will finally give the tools to the Regions and Provinces Autonomous, the necessary tools to be able to intervene.” These are the words of MEP Matteo Gazzini (Lega-ID Group).
