A letter received without surprise
We read, without surprise, the open letter of Archicaccia Marche of a few days ago and while we positively welcome the openness to discussion and dialogue of the Marche Regional Council in evaluating the calendar proposals of FEDERCACCIA, LIBERACACCIA, ENALCACCIA and ANUU, we do not agree with Arcicaccia who is against any legitimate pursuit of better conditions for Marche hunters. No one is the custodian of absolute truths, least of all in the field of interpretation and application of laws and regulations, and we do not recognize in Arcicaccia any right, or merit, to arrogate to himself the prerogative of defenders of hunting legality, as if those who fight to counter the " antitutto” were dangerous subversives!
Some clarifications
An invitation to reflection, obviously for the miserable mortals not subjugated by unique thought and science:
– if Arcicaccia's reading of the events were correct, there would be even more reason to fight to change laws and regulations;
– if it were not right we would be in the presence of a surreptitious application of the rules and therefore we would have to fight twice as hard to counteract this.
When Arcicaccia speaks of proposals of species contrary to Directives, sentences or ordinances either he does not know what he is talking about or he is in bad faith: in fact, if on the one hand there are pronouncements from the TAR or the Council of State which censor the hunting calendars, on the other there are others who approve of them. So why take only those against hunters as a reference? In the same Italy, in the same Republic, in the same State, with the same Directives and laws, in some regions can hunting be carried out better and in others not?
Deficiencies that need to be filled
We don't have to explain why we want to follow the best examples. It's Arcicaccia who has to explain why she wants to follow the worst ones! And we take the liberty of suggesting that even from unfavorable pronouncements we can deduce the shortcomings that need to be filled, and it is up to the regions to organize themselves to properly justify the acts if they do not have suitable material at their disposal. “Don't do” translates into an activity against hunters! However, we understand Arcicaccia's frantic search for herself, given that we only sporadically encounter her in the courtrooms defending calendars; nor do we have any news of his works, studies or research that could represent a basis for comparison and technical-legal criticism with respect to the opinions of ISPRA. And instead of denigrating the work of others, paid for by the members, which certainly serves to defend hunting times and species, in Parliament and in the courts, we would expect Arcicaccia to thank us for the work that is done to defend everyone, even his members since calendars are not just for us! Unless the members of Arcicaccia are happy and happy to go hunting less and less and worse! On the other hand, it is known that Arcicaccia would like to send hunters around with slingshots since he is attacking the manufacturers of hunting weapons!
INFS and ISPRA
The restrictions that Arcicaccia so much hopes will be applied, perhaps even before being passed, are not prescribed by Community Directives, but rather the result of Italian anti-hunting political choices, evidently shared by Arcicaccia, which have uncritically endorsed, if not directed, the work of INFS before and ISPRA later, even when evidently misaligned with other studies and research and even with other European countries. We believe that countering harassment and specious and ideological behavior towards hunters is a primary task of hunting associations. Demanding the same rights as European hunters is not being subversive. And it doesn't really seem to us that Europe is not attentive to sustainability, biodiversity, the conservation of wildlife and environmental heritage, that it is not in line with new sensitivities! It's just that unlike Italy, these shared goals, in Europe they are pursued without criminalizing hunters, but rather valorising them!
Judgments and sentences
And, finally, a little thought for the finch, which is certainly not the priority of the hunting world's problems. But why does Arcicaccia, diligent champion of ISPRA and all possible restrictions, not say that the Council of State (not of the subversive hunting associations!) with sentence no. 982 of 31.1.24 declared illegitimate ISPRA's refusal to determine the small quantity of finches that can be taken in compliance with the exceptions provided for by the Birds Directive and by 157/92? If the Marche Region were to take action in this sense it would do nothing but ask for compliance with a sentence! But the Marche Region doesn't want to become... subversive! Demonstrating that for Arcicaccia there is sentence and sentence. Evidently for them being equal means that someone is more equal than others!
