The weekend of 26 27 and October it was characterized by a very anomalous climate with temperatures up to 26 ° C and with very rare thunderstorms for this period, as happened on Monday 21 and Thursday 24. These weather conditions have characterized a very interesting migration for almost all species. In particular, there was a good presence of Song thrushes and early rock thrushes, as well as the Fringuello, accompanied by Peppola, Frosone and Siskin. The Colombaccio and the Robin are constant and numerically abundant. The good presence of the Coal Tit and, in general, of all the Paridae, is also underlined.
As for the rural species, there are still a good number of them Pipit and Larks. Also for the week that has just ended some trans-Saharan migrants have been observed in migration who usually have already passed in this period. The delay in the step was also noticed with regard to the Blackbird who recorded an excellent presence on his arrival and, finally, in the north of the peninsula, in the hills, together with the Woodcocks, the very first Cesene appeared. These are important data that cannot be examined with the usual stylized graphs made in the muffled laboratories and taken as an incontrovertible reference point for the now daily decisions of the administrative judges, who take as pure gold what science says without being in the field and without understanding the eternal “Give-and-take” of nature.
In short, once again historical data from FEIN, acquired for over forty years and continuously followed at the Arosio Ornithological Observatory with the application of the same methodology which, year after year, makes them considered as a "unicum" - for example - on the Song Thrush and that date back to 1940 - as recent studies written by Sergio Scebba, Walter Sassi and others show - confirm that the good state of conservation of many passerines is conditioned by the weather, the good conditions of the nesting places and, above all, the lack of anomalous deviations along their usual lines of migration.
It should be noted that on the rainy day of October 15 - as has already happened in the past - a more than positive movement of the Song Thrush was noted which, in a continuous and consistent way, began its movement from October 3 and, in this way, it happened in the south of France and along the Greek coasts. In short, an almost simultaneous departure from northern Europe towards the warm shores of the south. Thanks also to the collaboration of other observers and enthusiasts, we can then consider those species that have been almost absent in recent years, and that this autumn have appeared in good numbers. We conclude these notes by reminding all followers of Diana to strictly respect the daily limits of the game bag in order not to be judged as irresponsible users of nature (ANUUMigrators).
