There are new and important updates on the migration step to Mount Pizzoc, in the Treviso area. The day of Wednesday 11 October was characterized by a series of surprises, with the sixtieth species of the year captured and number 75 in total. The foggy morning had made us think of a few positive points, but at dawn several robins were then caught (78 to be precise) and thrushes (16).
In addition, the ringings involved blackbirds, black tits, siskin, chimney sweeps and a splendid collared blackbird (native to northern and western Europe), the first capture for Pizzoc. The day ended with one yellowhammer and one woodlark, never captured in previous years of this project. On 12 October, on the other hand, the stable weather and the calm wind gave us valuable catches.
At dawn many robins and also many song thrushes were caught, not to mention the blackbirds and stone thrushes passing by. The little stone was the species number 61 of the season. The step of the finches and brambles was moderate and continuous: the same goes for the frosoni and the flounders. Finally, the last surprise was that of the capture of a male Royal Harrier.
