The latest weekly update by theANUUMigrators on the migration step ad Arosio (in the province of Como) it is not the most exciting. The step itself was described as "uninspiring". What exactly happened? The end of August was hot and muggy in the Center-North, with the Po Valley and Tuscany which recorded the exceeding of normal temperatures, reaching even 30 degrees, while in the inland areas of the Center-South, the Islands and the Alps there were also strong thunderstorms.
On Sunday 26 the snow even fell in Cortina with a sharp drop in temperatures. As for the movement of the summers one could have hoped for something better, but the weather conditions (high temperature) did not allow for a favorable migration. In the previous note (the first of the new season) we talked about the first prispolone in post-nuptial migration that was ringed at the Ornithological Observatory of Arosio, managed by FEIN / IL NIBBIO European Foundation.
On the morning of Thursday 16 August 2018, at 8.00, with the INFS ring - LY18124, he was classified as born in the year. Weather conditions occurred with overcast sun and temperatures around 25 degrees. The date of August 16 represents the second time it has occurred in twenty-six years of monitoring.
