A great return
Returns to Calabria, in the province of Cosenza, inside the Dog Training Area of Montalto Uffugo, the XVII Italian Cup for fox hunting dogs in the Single, Couples or Pairs and Mute categories. The event, organized by the Italian Hunting Federation in collaboration with the provincial section of Cosenza, aims to revive the emotions and historical roots of fox hunting and enhance the natural and athletic qualities of the dogs that, once released, must chase the fox based on their instinct and sense of smell and find the solution with the harmony of the dog handler and the postmen.
Spring temperatures
The President of the ZAC of Montalto Uffugo Marcello Canonaco hosted the event, assisted by the tried and tested team of guides and experts of the area Vittorio Gallo and Francesco Canonaco and the hunting surveillance officers Salvatore Preite and Salvatore Martire. The two days were characterized by spring weather and temperatures, many curious and passionate hunters of this hunting practice were present, a good number of competitors and dogs presented, some coming from Tuscany and Campania.
Evaluating the evidence
The province of Crotone once again recorded the highest number of participants, where this form of hunting is actively practiced throughout the entire hunting season by a significant number of hunters and is part of the consolidated traditions and culture of this territory. The evaluation of the tests was entrusted to the federal judges Egidio Chianello, Giuseppe Mancuso, Salvatore Chiarello and Salvatore Palladino, with the careful, tireless and precious supervision of the national delegate for sports dog breeding Luigi Chiappetta (source: Federcaccia).
