The numerous presence of wild boars in the municipal area of Lanciano is becoming a serious problem and i two road accidents that have occurred in the last few days are proof of this.
And for these reasons, following the multiple reports received from citizens, worried about the constant presence of wild boars, in the wild, in the town, the mayor Filippo Paolini has decided to sign an ordinance.
In his provision he is remembered as «la uncontrolled presence of wild boars can involve accidental and unwanted contacts with people and pets, that wild boars can be carriers of numerous diseases posing problems not only for public safety, but also of a sanitary nature and that the presence of wandering wild boars is also a source of danger for road traffic, especially in evening hours.
After the reports and inspections carried out, having heard the provincial police of Chieti, the continuous presence of groups of wild boars was recorded, the total number of which is about 30 specimens of various age and sex classes, in particular in the localities via per Treglio, S. Rita district, via Iconicella, via Vecchia Iconicella , via del Mare, via Bergamo, via Firenze, via S. Giovanni da Capestrano, via S. Croce, c.da Gaeta, c.da S. Giusta, c.da Villa Andreoli del Comune. With the ordinance the activity of “Wildlife control” of wild boars in urban areas indicated below and in the neighboring ones: via per Treglio, S. Rita district, via Iconicella, via Vecchia Iconicella, via del Mare, via Bergamo, via Firenze, via S. Giovanni da Capestrano, via S. Croce, contrada Gaeta, contrada S. Giusta, Villa Andreoli district.
It is forbidden to supply food of any kind and food waste to wild animals, especially wild boars. Also you sort the owners or owners of land facing the streets of the Municipality to keep the land itself clean and cleared of weeds, in order to prevent the creation of ecological conditions favorable to the penetration and adaptation of wild boars and to citizenship delivery of waste according to the days and times communicated by the company managing the urban sanitation services and to correctly use the tubs / containers delivered for the transfer of staff, in order to avoid the uncontrolled presence of food on the roads.
Then Paolini instructs the provincial police of Chieti, in support of the Abruzzo Region, to remove the specimens of wandering boars and / or used to frequent the urban areas in search of food, with the methods considered each time more effective and decisive in relation to the circumstances, having regard to the priority need to guarantee the health and safety of people, including that of the operators themselves, as well as the integrity of things, proceeding with the immediate killing of the animals, where deemed necessary (Chieti today).
