A meeting of the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters, represented by the secretary Marco Romagnoli, by the President of Federcaccia Tuscany Marco Salvadori and the secretary of Federcaccia Toscana Paolo Cerdini, with the Councilor for the Environment of the Tuscany region Federica Fratoni, the regional councilor Francesco Gazzetti and the manager Gilda Ruberti, to deepen the technical aspects of nature reserve of the Livorno Mountains. Thus, the commitment of the Councilor Fratoni assumed in the assembly of the CCT on 20 January in Rosignano Solvay, during which the concerns of hunters regarding the possible negative effects which could have been determined following the new regulation of contiguous areas and Sites of Community Interest (SIC) following the establishment of the Monti Livornesi Nature Reserve.
Already at that time the Councilor Fratoni had shared the requests of the CCT and assured that the reasons for the protection and enhancement of the natural environment of the Livorno mountains, should not have opposed the hunting activity, also in function of the concrete contribution given to the wildlife-environmental management. With this precise will, he then proposed an in-depth analysis with the technicians, in order to verify that they were not there legislative, national and community provisions, contrary to this orientation. In yesterday's meeting all the technical and regulatory aspects were addressed.
The revision of the current situation is due to the adaptation to community standards, with the transformation of the park into nature reserve and the consequent modification of the rules and instruments in force today. A single nature reserve will be established, substantially coinciding with the current provincial park. Furthermore, with the establishment of the reserve, the relative ones will be realized contiguous areas and some Sites of Community Interest; the management measures will be determined by a regulation which will be subjected to a wide participation procedure. As of now, according to the regional offices, it is possible to state that the protections in force today will be confirmed and there will be no changes regarding the current forms and methods of hunting.
The political direction to guarantee hunting activities for the more than 1.600 interested hunters is thus reaffirmed. The Councilor Fratoni and the councilor Gazzetti reiterated the orientation to start a process of participation for the preparation of the regulation and for the future forms of management of the nature reserve, in order to ensure the contribution of all the components of the territory. The Confederation of Tuscan Hunters noted with satisfaction the positive orientation and willingness shown by the regional representatives, declaring its willingness to contribute in all stages of construction regulations and management.
