“Research as a management tool”. This is the title chosen by the Federcaccia Birdlife Migration Office for the conference hosted within Nature Show, the event dedicated to hunting that will take place next weekend in Ariano Irpino, in the province of Avellino and which wants to focus the spotlight on the issues scientific and managerial and their implications on the practice of hunting. The start of the work, which will be moderated by the regional president of the Federcaccia Campania, Andrea Ferrara, is scheduled at 10 am with the intervention of the national vice president Antonio D'Angelo. This will be followed by the intervention of the national vice president Lorenzo Carnacina, who will focus on “The importance of research and data, fundamental elements of knowledge for the drafting of hunting calendars”.
Michele Sorrenti, technical scientific manager of the FIdC Migratory Birdlife Office will speak on the topic "European legislation and hunting activities: seasons, species and Natura 2000 Network", followed by Alessandro Tedeschi, President of the Amici di Scolopax Association, who will hold his speech illustrating the topic de “Scientific research applied to woodcock. Beyond empiricism for a correct knowledge and management of the species ".
It will then be the turn of Dr. Sergio Scebba to illustrate the results and perspectives of the “Monitoring of the autumn migration of the skylark and of the pre-nuptial migration of the song thrush”. Afterwards, Daniel Tramontana, Wildlife Technician, will talk about “Radiotelemetry applied to turdids: results of three years of experimentation”. Finally, Carlo Romanelli, UCIM vice president, will conclude by illustrating the “Relevant aspects in the European legislation for a correct management and conservation of migratory birds”.
A morning full of food for thought and concrete examples of the fundamental importance of scientific research in the environmental wildlife field to better regulate and grow Italian hunting looking to the future, so that there is an increasingly sustainable and motivated harvesting action, within which the Cacciatore plays an active role as a manager who is attentive and aware of the general good, going beyond the only, albeit legitimate, playful and recreational aspect of his activity.
