The Polish parliament is preparing a new hunting law which will establish very specific rules for what concerns above all access to private land. As reported by Christian Science Monitor, the legislative text has been talked about since the mandate of the previous government, led by the Liberal party and close to the positions of the EU, ended "Civic Platform". Furthermore, the Constitutional Court ruled that the current law, launched in 1995, does not properly protect i rights of landowners, as Polish citizens can hunt in private areas without asking for permission.
Now in power there is Law and Justice (Law and Justice) and its draft law includes another element that did not make everyone agree, namely free access to gun owners. The vote should take place by January 2017, but the controversy is already very heated. According to Tomasz Kulesza, president of the Polish Hunting Association in the Przemyśl District, hunters love nature and know how to take care of it: hunting is no longer a hobby for a few and everyone can become a member of the association.
Furthermore, the total number of hunters has increased from 100 to 116 over the past fifteen years, although most of them have confessed to feeling not accepted by society civil. However, an agreement will not be impossible, also because the Minister of the Environment, the husband of the Prime Minister and the director of state forests they are all hunters, therefore with a common interest to share.
