So many suspects
New revelations about the Honorable Michelle Brambilla have brought to light a complex system of Chinese boxes between politics and business, anything but ethical towards animals. Gabriella Caramanica, Secretary of the political party REA, declared, commenting on the investigation by Report, signed by Giulia Innocenzi, broadcast on Sunday 24 February. The report revealed the role of the parliamentarian in the management of interconnected companies, with suspicions of tax evasion for over a million euros. So much so that the Guardia di Finanza itself has started investigations into a network of companies linked to Brambilla, with fictitious consultancies registered in the name of family members and cash flows for hundreds of thousands of euros. Among the suspicious invoices are also those of the LEIDAA Association, which we recall has received both public funds and donations.
Brand exposure
A tangle of private business, politics and commercial strategies emerges that raises questions about the parliamentarian's actions - comments Gabriella Caramanica - Brambilla not only exploited her political position to favor some companies that reciprocated by favoring the display of the Io Veg brand in large-scale distribution but also deceived consumers since in the same warehouse as the vegan brand they package salmon from Poland and shrimp dating back to the Food for the world brand that coincidentally can be traced back to Brambilla herself. One wonders why only through Report has the ambiguity in which Brambilla has been operating for some time come to light. While the investigation continues, the Hon. Brambilla must provide an official clarification and resign from the presidency of the interparliamentary group to restore centrality to the debate on animal rights and protection in Italy.
Unfair advantages
Urgent regulatory interventions are needed on breeding, trade and sale of animals, which cannot be treated as simple goods. Brambilla has exploited the animal rights cause by putting personal interests first, betraying the trust of public opinion and exploiting his political position to obtain competitive advantages in an unfair way. The Hon. Brambilla has taken advantage of animals instead of protecting them through his position as president of the parliamentary intergroup. A change is urgently needed to introduce concrete laws also at a European level that guarantee real protection of animals. a commitment that the Hon. Brambilla has not shown he supports. Concludes the national secretary of REA.
