In yesterday's session, the Regional Council approved a resolution that makes important changes to the "Control Plan of the wild boar population in the Tuscany Region for the period 2019/21, approved with DGR n.71 of 21/01/19". In the premise we read that: Considering the problem linked to the presence of wild boar in the regional territory and the considerable damage to agriculture and natural habitats and the inconvenience and dangers that these animals cause to the population and circulation. In consideration of the provisions of the Constitutional Court ruling no.21 of 2021 and consequently the need to clarify that "the hunters qualified under Article 37 LR 3/94 are only those who are in possession of the appropriate qualification obtained through courses / exams issued by the Provinces and the Region".
Considering the technical document "PSA (African Swine Fever) National Action Plan on wild boar management, the Tuscany Region has established in the Resolution in question and until the end of the validity of the Control Plan itself that: It will be possible, in the control operations with the hunt method, to use dogs also not in possession of specific ENCI qualification but also "other auxiliaries that guarantee during the control operations an adequate selectivity to the wild boar species".
Moreover, always in the same, it is established that “the hunters authorized to control are only those who are in possession of the appropriate qualification obtained through courses / exams issued by the provinces and the Tuscany Region ". This provision, in essence, aims to ensure the continuation of the control and containment activities carried out in the forms described above, to guarantee proper management of the species, the safeguarding of agricultural production and public safety (Source: Hunting Federation).
