Biodiversity and sustainability
The Wildlife Plan is the instrument through which the Province protects, conserves, and improves the status of wildlife populations in Trentino , with a view to maintaining environmental balance for current and future generations. It therefore defines the most appropriate technical and operational guidelines for maintaining a balance between conservation and sustainable management. The key concepts are biodiversity and sustainability, which represent both the method and the framework for all environmental action.
Specific projects
The main innovation is in the structure: lighter, with technical and scientific content that can be updated without having to rewrite the entire document. Thanks to georeferenced databases, it will also be possible to update annually - if necessary - the maps that indicate where the species are present or absent. This data, together with the full text of the Plan, will be published on a dedicated website. Since the initial drafting phase, the Province has activated a network of contacts with local authorities and subjects that deal with fauna in various capacities. Once the Plan is adopted, one of the first objectives will be to keep this network active to work on the topics contained in the survey sheets, from which specific projects can be born to deepen the knowledge useful for the management of some species.
The observations
The Plan has been subjected to the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), as established by the Decree of the President of the Province of 2021. It includes the Environmental Report, the Non-Technical Summary and the Environmental Impact Assessment. As required by the SEA, the Plan has been published and put out for consultation to collect comments from stakeholders and has been sent to the competent environmental bodies for the collection of opinions.
