It will be held on March 3, in the conference room of the office of Rovigo area, training course to enable new operators to the capture of specimens of nutria from the natural environment. The course is organized and managed by the Region and the training activity is part of the implementation of the coypu control plan which entered into force last August and which will remain operational until 2025. After several years of stop, we then return to enable farmers to enable them to select and capture otters.
"It is now well known that agricultural businesses are harassed by this invasive species - comments the president Carlo Salvan - and their containment is now essential. This non-native species is now becoming a social problem, no longer just agriculture: it compromises our hydraulic safety, digging tunnels and burrows in the embankments of ditches, canals and rivers, and exposing them to serious danger all the operators who gravitate around these areas, from the individual farmer who transits with his means, to the employees of the reclamation consortia up to the citizens who drive by car or other means on embankment roads or in their proximity; it compromises our productions, devouring hectares of crops to the detriment of the income of our businesses and consumers; it also approaches homes, as has already been reported to us, also arousing health concerns ".
“It is therefore a serious problem that affects all of our territory and for which ever more incisive actions are needed, and on this the confrontation with the institutions is always close and constant; the course is certainly an additional tool available, and participation demonstrates how much the problem is felt but it is certainly not decisive ". "This activity of sorting controllers that farmers manage serves the whole community - continues Silvio Parizzi, director of Coldiretti Rovigo - but the plan does not deal with the economic aspects and like Coldiretti we have proposed to the Region to support this activity.
The commitment required of the farmer with the installation e trap control is not irrelevant, in terms of time and effort. As an association we make ourselves available to host other courses, the more operators are authorized, the more the species is controlled ". The course is already sold out, but those interested can express their interest in the next ones by contacting the training office of Coldiretti Rovigo at 0425 201918-939 or by writing to [email protected] (Polesine24).
