London 2012 Olympic Games: Niccolò Campriani wins the silver medal in rifle shooting at 10 meters.
After remaining in the lead until the last shots, Niccolò Campriani gives the first place on the podium to the Romanian Alin Georg Moldoveanu, contenting himself with the silver medal in rifle shooting at 10 meters.
Niccolò Campriani had equaled the Olympic record with 599 and finishing first on equal points with the Romanian Alin Georg Moldoveanu at the end of today's qualification in the rifle at 10 meters. At 13.15 the blue of the Fiamme Gialle then played in the 10-stroke final leading an impeccable race until the last shots but at the seventh and eighth pitches two uncertainties were fatal costing him the first place on the podium.
In fact, the Rumanian, who was close to Campriani, thus had the opportunity to move to first place and Niccolò's commitment for the following shots was not enough to regain the first position; Campriani therefore had to settle for the honorable Silver Medal with the score of 701.5 compared to the first place of the Romanian Moldoveanu, gold medal, with 702.1 and the Bronze to the Indian Narang Gagan, with 701.1 points.
