Official start of the races
The 2023 international racing season for the Olympic pit and Skeet starts from Rabat (MAR) with the First Round of the ISSF World Cup, the first under the Presidency of Luciano Rossi. The top manager of the International Federation will be in Morocco for the Opening Ceremony and for the start of the competitions. “It will be an important season full of challenges which, unusually, already starts in the month of January. I am pleased to open it in Morocco together with the leaders of the Moroccan Federation to whom I have always been close as President of the Italian Federation to support them in their international commitment. It gives me great joy to see what was previously just an International Grand Prix transformed into a World Cup. I wish the 230 athletes in the race good luck and I wish the coaches and members of the delegations who will participate in the event representing 45 countries a good job”.
The summons
For Italy, the first to leave for Rabat will be the Skeet specialists of Technical Commissioner Andrea Filippetti, who for the occasion has decided to summon Giancarlo Tazza (Fiamme Oro) from Caserta, Emanuele Fuso (Army) from Spello (PG ) and Valerio Palmucci (Fiamme Oro) from Fiano Romano (RM) for the men's race and Martina Maruzzo (Fiamme Oro) from Nanto (VI), Giada Longhi (Fiamme Oro) from Longone Sabino (RI) and Sara Bongini (Fiamme Oro) of Impruneta (FI) for the female one. For them, the commitments will begin on Thursday 12 January with the Official Trainings and from Friday 13 January there will be the competitions.
The dates to mark
In this first appointment of the season, the Team competition was also confirmed, an event that will be canceled from the next appointments to reduce the costs incurred by the National Federations for travel and to limit the competitive stress of the shooters, bringing it back to only between days of competition ( two for the individual and one for the mixed team). Trap's team will also leave for Morocco on 16 January with the debut of Marco Conti as National Technical Director. For this trip Conti has decided to summon Luca Miotto (Carabinieri) from Ciliverghe (BS), Lorenzo Ferrari (Fiamme Oro) from Provaglio d'Iseo (BS) and Daniele Resca (Carabinieri) from Pieve di Cento (BO) for men and Jessica Rossi (Fiamme Oro) from Crevalcore (BO), Giulia Grassia (Army) from Modena and Silvana Maria Stanco (Fiamme Gialle) from Winterthur (SUI) for women.
