Mr Barbara Mazzali, regional councilor of the Lombardia, has spread this note on social networks in the last few hours: “Dear friends, I give you a news that has just come out which I think is very important. L'World Health Organization called for a halt to the sale of live wild mammals in food markets to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. It is a request that is not only significant in itself, but all the more relevant as it is actually made by the WHO. I quote the words of the Organization: 'Animals, especially wild animals, are the source of over 70% of all emerging infectious diseases in humans, many of which are caused by new viruses.
Wild mammals, in particular, pose a risk for the emergence of new diseases. ' The danger of the wild and the fact that they are intermediaries even very serious diseases it is an alarm that we hunters have been giving for some time and we are unheard. Coldiretti also underlines how it should be stopped immediately the uncontrolled proliferation of wild animals, wild boars in the first place. The lockdown has made an already worrying situation worse and now is the time to act. I hope that the words of the WHO will awaken those who still think that the animals are pelouches and above all they wake up politicians and ministers who must definitely change pace ”.
