“Hunting in Calabria: what future?”. The title chosen by the provincial section of Cosenza of the Federcaccia for the debate on 12 January is as clear as ever and will go into very delicate issues regarding hunting in the southern region. The appointment is scheduled for three days at the Piccolo Teatro di Castiglione Cosentino (Cosenza) and will begin at 16 pm. a very dangerous regulatory vacuum for the regular exercise of hunting.
There will also be interventions on the renewal of the regulations for hunting wild boar, hare and fox, without forgetting the establishment of repopulation and game capture areas, as well as the beginning of the training courses of the hunting guards, figures more and more important for the surveillance of the territory. The list of personalities who will speak during the debate is also quite long.
They are Domenico Bevacqua, Mauro D'Acri, Giuseppe Graziano and Franco Sergio, councilors of the Calabria Region, the head of cabinet Gaetano Pignanelli, the staff coordinator Franco Iacucci, the provincial number one of Federcaccia Francesco Antonio Greco and the presidents of the Territorial Sectors by Caccia Saverio Bloise, Tullio Capalbo and Marcello Canonaco. The debate will then be concluded by Gennaro Giuffrè, regional president of Federcaccia.
The table will be full of important and crucial arguments for the Calabrian hunters, a series of issues that have not yet found a valid solution. In particular, it was the so-called Delrio Law (Law 56 of 2014) that redesigned the boundaries and competences of local administrations, shifting the functions of the provinces to the regions. One of these functions is precisely that which concerns the regulation of the hunting and fishing sectors. The goal to be achieved in a short time is to change the Regional Law 9 of May 17, 1996.
We are talking about the rules for the protection and management of wild fauna and the organization of the territory for the purposes of the planned discipline of hunting, in short, the law governing Calabrian hunting. One of the many problems that has so far been faced too simplistically is that of the presence of wild boar, particularly in the Vibonese area: the negative repercussions on agricultural activities in the area have been evident, but the hunting management has often been focused on improvisation and on the repopulation and the often abusive (therefore not easily controllable) immissions of these animals.
